The Vehicle Reliability Score™

One number, 0–100, that answers the only question that matters: how is this car going to treat you after you own it? Higher is better.

  • Model reliabilityHow this year, make, and model holds up, adjusted for age and mileage.
  • Mechanical inspectionOur 30-point hands-on check: engine, transmission, brakes, and the test drive.
  • Cosmetic inspectionOur 30-point exterior and interior check. Looks matter, just less than mechanics.
  • Carfax historyAccidents, title issues, and service records from the Carfax report.
  • Owner historyHow the car was owned, used, and maintained, and how the seller's story checks out.

Questions buyers actually ask

Do you sell cars or work with dealers?
No, and that's the point. We don't sell cars, we don't broker cars, and we're never paid by sellers. Our only customer is you, the buyer, so our only incentive is telling you the truth about the car.
Where do the inspections happen?
Wherever the car is. Our inspector meets the seller at their location: a driveway, an apartment complex, a parking lot, anywhere in the Tucson metro. You don't need to move the car or convince the seller to visit a shop.
How long does an inspection take?
Most inspections take between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours depending on the vehicle and tier selected. Standard is typically faster, while Full-Service includes additional time for negotiation coordination and report preparation.
Do I need to be present during the inspection?
No, you don't need to be there. You'll receive a full written report with photos and our assessment after the inspection is complete. You can be as hands-on or off as you want, that's the point.
What type of vehicles do you inspect?
We inspect cars, trucks, and SUVs. If you're buying something unusual (a classic car, a commercial vehicle, or a specialty build), reach out and we'll let you know if we can accommodate it.
What if I'm buying out of state?
Out-of-state buyers are some of the people we help most. If the car is in the Tucson area, we can inspect it at the seller's location and send you a complete remote report so you can make an informed decision without flying out. What if the seller won't allow an inspection?
That's an answer in itself. A seller with nothing to hide rarely objects to an inspection of the vehicle. If they refuse, we'd treat that as a serious red flag, and you just saved yourself the price of a bad car.Read the guide: how to buy a car from a private seller
What exactly is the Vehicle Reliability Score™?
A 0–100 score built to predict how the car will treat its next owner, not just how it looks today. It combines the model's reliability track record, our hands-on mechanical and cosmetic inspections, the Carfax history, open recalls, and the owner's story. Critical problems like a failing transmission or salvage title cap the score directly, and your report explains every reason behind the number.
Can you handle the negotiation for me?
Yes, that's our Full-Service tier. We inspect the car, score it, set a recommended price range, and negotiate directly with the seller. You only need to show up at the time of sale.
How fast can you get to a car?
Marketplace cars move fast, so we do too. Standard bookings are typically scheduled within a few days; Data-Enhanced and Full-Service customers get priority scheduling. If a car is about to sell, tell us. We'll do what we can.
Is the inspection fee refunded if I don't buy the vehicle?
No. The inspection fee covers the expert time spent evaluating the vehicle regardless of the outcome. That said, discovering a bad deal before you buy it is worth far more than the cost of the inspection. Many of our customers consider a ‘passed’ inspection their best money ever spent.
