About Vehicle Check Pros
Vehicle Check Pros is an independent pre-purchase vehicle inspection company based in Tucson, Arizona. We are not a dealership, not a broker and not a repair shop. We inspect used cars for the people thinking about buying them, and that is the entire business.
One job, done for one side of the deal
We are the Vehicle Check Professionals. People find us under a few different names: some write the Vehicle Check Pros, some look for vehicle check professionals in Tucson. They all arrive at the same small company doing the same narrow thing.
That thing is the pre-purchase inspection. Somebody is about to hand over five figures for a used car they have seen once, in a parking lot, in good light, with a stranger standing next to them describing it. We go and look at it properly first: a 30-point mechanical inspection, a 30-point cosmetic inspection, a test drive by a certified inspector, the questions most buyers do not know to put to a seller, and a full photo report so you can see what we saw.
Our inspectors are ASE-certified or hold equivalent experience. The inspection happens wherever the car already is (a driveway, an apartment lot, a workplace parking space), because asking a private seller to take half a day off to drive to a shop is how inspections quietly do not happen.
We don't sell cars
Independence is not a slogan here, it is the product. It is also the easiest thing in this industry to quietly not have.
We don't sell cars
We have nothing on a lot and nothing to move. There is no car we would rather you bought, so there is no version of the report that suits us better than the accurate one.
We don't broker cars
We are not paid on whether a sale happens. An inspection that ends with you walking away is exactly as good a day for us as one that ends with you buying.
Sellers never pay us
We are never paid by sellers or dealers. The only customer in the transaction is the buyer who commissioned the inspection, which makes the answer to "who is this report for?" very short.
Why we built the Vehicle Reliability Score™
A good inspection report is long, and a long report is hard to act on at the moment you actually need it, standing in a driveway with a seller waiting for an answer. The Vehicle Reliability Score™ exists to give that report a front page: one number from 0 to 100 predicting how this car is likely to treat its next owner, with everything behind it still written down underneath.
It combines six things: how that year, make and model holds up adjusted for age and mileage; our 30-point mechanical inspection; our 30-point cosmetic inspection; the Carfax history; the owner history and whether the seller's account of it stands up; and open NHTSA safety recalls checked against federal data.
The part we care most about is what it refuses to do. A serious problem cannot be averaged away: a failing transmission or a salvage title caps the score directly, no matter how clean everything else looks. A scoring system that lets a good interior offset a bad drivetrain would be worse than no score at all. The full breakdown, and the bands the number falls into, are on the homepage.
The score is included with the Data-Enhanced and Full-Service tiers. The Standard tier gets the same hands-on inspection and the same photo report, without the score and the data that feeds it.
How we work
What you can expect
On every inspection, at every tier.
- We come to the car — on-site at the seller's location, anywhere in the metro.
- A certified inspector — ASE-certified or equivalent experience, doing the work in person.
- A straight answer — buy, negotiate, or walk away, in plain language.
- Photographs — so a finding is something you can look at, not something you have to take on trust.
- No attendance required — the report is written for someone who was not there.
What we won't claim
The limits, stated up front rather than in the small print.
- Not a guarantee — an inspection is a professional assessment of observable condition, not a warranty.
- Not exhaustive — latent defects exist in complex machines, and we do not promise to find every one.
- Nothing invasive — we inspect what is safely accessible and visible; we do not disassemble components.
- Not a full diagnostic — it does not replace a licensed mechanic at a certified facility.
- Written down — all of this is set out in the terms of service.
